Giuseppe Verdi – “Requiem”

Some of the world renowned opera singers performed Verdi’s “Requiem” in support of the children orphaned as a result of the bloody conflict in Georgia in August. Apart from Paata Burchuladze, the charity action involved Olga Romanko-Primavera (Soprano), Luciana Dintino (Mezzo-soprano) and Ramon Vargas (Tenor). The project was sponsored by the “Iavnana” and TBC Foundations, Elit-Electronics store network, the Georgian Ministry of Culture, Monument Protection and Sports and the Tbilisi Municipality. At the end of the concert, an apartment key was handed over to Ms. Zhuzhuna Maisuradze, mother of eleven, displaced from Liakhvi gorge, Ms. Lia Vakhtangashvili, the single mother of seven, displaced from the village of Eredvi, Ms. Lia Gerkenashvili, mother of seven, for whom the “Iavnana” Foundation purchased a private house in the village of Tamarasheni last year, which was completely destroyed as a result of the developments in August. Dito Razmadze, 7, whose parents were killed in the bombing and who now live with his grandparents, will have a flat of his own. Helen, Marie, Levan and Valeri Mchedlidzes were orphaned when their private house was destroyed in a bombing of the town of Gori. Immediately after the tragedy, Helen and Marie were taken to the Children’s Home in the village of Tashiskari. Owing to the charity action, the four children and their grandmother will live in a house of their own.
