In July 2004, the first charity performance was held at the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre under the auspices of the “Iavnana” Foundation. Mr. Paata Burchuladze, the founder of the “Iavnana” Foundation performed King Carlos’ aria in Verdi’s “Don Carlos”, the performance held in support of the most needy children. At the end of the performance, Mr. Zurab Tsereteli, the prominent Georgian artist made the first contribution of $20000, the price of his “St. George” sold at the Sotheby’s, completely granted to the “Iavnana” Foundation.
